Expertise

Applied Foundations™

A rigorous investigation into your business proposition, your marketplace and your customers.

A deep immersion discovery process to gain critical insights into your business.

Before we do anything, we need to get to know you. In depth.

Whether we’re building you a new website, re-positioning your brand, or working on a social media campaign (or all of these), we need to know precisely what your business is about.

Our Applied Foundations™ programme, as its name suggests, is the basis for every aspect of our work.

We ask lots of questions on where you sit within your marketplace, who your competitors are, and the commercial challenges that you face - both short and long term.

We also want to understand who your customers are, and the typical pain points that they’re up against. What are their wants and needs?

We also need to know your immediate and long term objectives. Where do you want to get to from where you are now?

By gaining these key insights, we can start to develop tactics and strategies that give clarity and purpose to your content and communications.

Keyword research

What are the keywords and search terms that your target customers use to find your products and services? Identifying these allows us to fully optimise your website and social posts. The more targeted they are, the more precisely we can reach your audience with the content that they’re searching for, and the more likely your website is to be returned in a Google search.

Competitor analysis

Who are you up against? What are the threats they pose to your business? There’s nothing like a bit of healthy competition to concentrate the mind on exactly what it is you have to offer. Understanding who your competitors are enables us to hone down on the specific features and benefits of your products and services.

Customer profiling

Who is your typical customer? What are their wants and needs? What pain points do your products and services aim to resolve? Gaining key insights into your customers’ motives and behaviours enables us to position your business in the right context, with the right tone of voice and calls to action.

Product overviews

What is your product or service offering, and what are the key features and benefits? This is where we identify those key differentiators that set you apart from your competitors and help us define what makes your products distinctive from the rest.

Brand insights

From our research and discovery process we’re able to understand the key elements that underpin your brand, and how this shapes both your market proposition and brand reputation.

Goals and objectives

How do you get from where you are now, to where you want to be? A key element of our discovery process is understanding your commercial objectives, and the metrics for success.  We also want to understand your wider ambitions -  such as your working culture, sustainability, and corporate social responsibility objectives.

Process

Challenge

Never make assumptions. Make decisions and strategies based on firm evidence

  • Our job is to equip ourselves with the knowledge and insights to fully understand your business, your competitors and your marketplace.

  • The decisions we make around your brand, your website and your marketing are all based on a thorough research and discovery process.

  • We may have instincts around what your business does, and the challenges you face, but we can’t make any definitive decisions until our assumptions have been tested, and we have the evidence to move ahead with certainty.

Solution

Every business needs a tailored solution based on very specific market intelligence

  • No two solutions are the same. Every business has its unique market proposition.

  • Our Foundations™ process gives us the information we need to define your brand, and what it stands for.

  • Through keyword research, and by identifying your customers’ needs and motivations, we can start to lay firm foundations for marketing strategies and tactics.
