After deciding halfway through college that my admittedly unrealistic life plan to become a forensic psychologist just wasn’t the right path for me, I started looking for an apprenticeship.
Having previously studied English literature, written an EPQ in media psychology, and always hearing my cousin talk about her exciting marketing job, when I saw a vacancy for a digital marketing apprentice at a nearby agency, it seemed like an obvious choice.
The role married my interest in human behaviour and love of writing together, and I soon found out that the world of digital marketing is where I belong.
After my apprenticeship ended, I moved to a generator and trackway rental specialist where I was (quite scarily) the only person on the marketing team. And while it was definitely a bit daunting at first, taking the lead on all marketing activity, both on and offline, helped me gain some really valuable experience and made me learn a lot - and quickly!
And when it came time for me to hire a new agency, my search led me to meeting a certain Mr Steve Sykes. The team at Applied were honest with me right from the first meeting and offered proper, practicable ideas. Fast forward a few months and I was applying for a job to work with them.
I’m now proud to be part of such a great team of people, writing content and spending all day doing what I love.
When I’m not at work, you’ll probably find me scouring See Tickets for the next gig I want to go to (I’m always partial to a pop-punk show, or actual rock depending on the mood).
But on a more daily basis, I’m usually re-playing Firewatch, listening to The Wonder Years and watching reruns of Gilmore Girls with my dog.
