Remain active warns Google!

Google advises that they may un-verify pages on your Google My Business account if it's inactive

Google's Jade Wang has offered some important clarification on the scenario of set-and-forget Google My Business dashboards - Google could determine that they are inactive and un-verify the listings they contain . She writes:

"In some cases, Google My Business users may be contacted via email to confirm that they are still actively managing a business page. If a user is unresponsive to our attempts to contact him or her and has not logged into Google My Business for a significant length of time, then we may un-verify pages in the account.

We're doing this in order to continue to provide users with the best experience when they’re looking for local businesses like yours. It's a good idea to keep an eye on the inbox associated with your Google My Business (Locations) account and regularly log into Google My Business (Locations) to confirm that your business information is current and accurate”.

Being more active is key to being a successful business and allows customers to find you more easily especially if you are regularly updating your account. Listing your business on Google connects you directly with customers whether they’re looking for you on Search, Maps or Google +.

You should give your customers the right information at the right time, whether that be driving directions to your business in Maps, opening hours in Search or a phone number they can click on to call you on mobile phones. Google My Business helps you build a loyal fan base. Your customers can show their appreciation with ratings and reviews, use the +1 button to endorse your content and reshare your Google+ posts across the web.

Although Google advises that to keep your account active all you have to do is simply log into the dashboard once every few months, we would strongly advise that you are more active, whether that is keeping your business information up to date or posting latest news and offers.

Here at Smart Arts, we have extensive experience using Google My Business as part of wider online marketing strategies, for clients who range from growing local businesses to companies with an established international presence.

We can help to make your business more visible, and ultimately attract more customers, by sharing/posting relevant information to demonstrate your knowledge and expertise in your field, such as commentary on industry news, latest products, special offers, infographics, statistics etc.

All of which will help to increase your presence on SERPs, drive traffic to your site, assist with conversions, and keep you in Google's good books, of course!

If you require help to improve your digital presence, call us on 01484 302010 or contact us via info@smartarts.co.uk to arrange an initial discussion.

New appointment. Onwards and Upwards. Literally.

I’m a bit of a one for reading those books you find in airports in the ‘business’ section. You know, the ones by people who run massive corporations with tens of thousands of staff, who’ve transformed businesses, turned around a supertanker of despair and are now sailing toward a sunny horizon, via the upland pastures of bountiful gains and endless wealth.
